Participating in or Referring to Life on Track
Life on Track is a service for defendants developed by the NSW Government. It aims to reduce reoffending by offering personalised support and case management to eligible and suitable defendants appearing at select Local Courts.
Life on Track targets defendants who have medium to high level support needs and / or a medium to high risk of re-offending. The service will adopt a strengths-based approach. This means it works with defendants and highlights defendants’ individual skills and experiences.
Life on Track contacts some defendants to tell them about the service, and assess their eligibility and suitability to participate, before they attend court for the first time.
Life on Track also accepts referrals of defendants from lots of places including:
-
when a defendant refers themself
-
from a defendant’s family member
-
from a defendant’s lawyer
-
from the court
-
from other service providers
-
from the police.
